Abstract

In this paper, we propose a novel P2P cooperativeproxy cache system using an individual-based model. We borrow the idea from an ecological system as well aseconomic systems to manage the cooperative proxiesthrough data and information exchange amongindividual proxies. The data flow among proxy nodescreates artificial life for the cooperative proxies. Theproxy servers with artificial life can automaticallyconfigure themselves into a Virtual Proxy Graph. Theaggregate effect of caching actions by individual peerproxies automatically distributes the Web documentcloser to the clients and balances the workload. Oursimulation results show that the proposed proxy cachingscheme tremendously improves the system performance. In addition, the individual-based design model ensuresthe simplicity and scalability of the cache system.
