Abstract

In this paper, we present a negotiation framework in which thenegotiation process is performed at two levels. The upper leveldeals with the formation of high-level goals and objectives for theagent, and the decision about whether or not to negotiate withother agents to achieve particular goals or bring about particularobjectives. Negotiation at this upper level determines the roughscope of the commitment. The lower level deals with feasibility andimplementation operations; negotiation at this level involvesrefinement of the rough commitments proposed at the upperlevel. Theexperimental work shows this two-level negotiation frameworkenables the agent to handle complicated negotiation issues anduncertainties in a more efficient way.
