Abstract

In February 1998, at the peak of the IT boom when almost every company was fixing Y2K bugs, the author was hired as a programmer/analyst by a small IT company to develop functional specifications for two ongoing software development projects. The company provided data services maintenance of hardware and software, as well as data access for customers and also did some software development. Though ultimately painful, his experiences at this company gave him invaluable insight into the way projects can fail.
