Abstract

Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and Business-to-Business integration (B2B) leverage several key technologies including middleware and message brokers. However, an effective integration solution largely dependson the right combination of technologies that provide theglue between disparate applications. To build a technologyinfrastructure that can adapt to changes as the integrationarchitecture evolves is crucial. The solution to theintegration problem is forcing companies to think indistributed terms. In this paper, we show that a formula forsuccessful deployment of an integrated organization is tohave a technology infrastructure, consisting of a standardmiddleware and application server, that incorporates adistributed object infrastructure as well as platform todevelop and integrate component-based applications. Inparticular, the paper evaluates the suitability of CORBAand EJBs as the enablers of EAI, and also the suitability ofXML as a data definition and integration language.
