This paper proposes a general technique for testing decompositionof component specifications based on rulesfor formal verification. Component specifications are expressedas pairs of two models: a context assumption anda component guarantee. Thereby they capture the contract-likenature between the component to be developed and thecontext in which it is supposed to work. The paper providesempirical evidence that A/G rules developed for formalmethods are highly relevant as patterns for testing decompositionof component specifications. More explicitly, that testing the validity of decomposition based on A/G rulesis valid, and moreover, that testing based on A/G rules ismore efficient that a conventional approach for the samekind of test-quality.
