Abstract

This paper describes a software process improvementeffort involving the development and deployment ofDiME, a proprietary, integrated, collaborativeenvironment for managing product definition,development and delivery processes and information.DiME has been developed as a means to improve and re-engineerthe management of these processes and facilitatethe management of product development information.The paper describes the situation that led to the DiMEinitiative, the DiME system and its basic concepts,principles and capabilities, and its enterprise-widedeployment within Comverse. Although the project is stillevolving, interim lessons learned from its introductioninto the enterprise are presented and related work isdiscussed.
