This paper describes a solution to the problem of acquiring reuseable design components for schema-based software design (SBD) systems. It also discusses some inherent shortcomings of the SBD approach that can be overcome by adopting a hybrid approach that incorporates the use of design cases. This discussion is made against the background of IDeA, an SBD system.
