SNOBAT is a batch processor for the SNOBOL4 language, developed by the author for the IBM 360. The latest version of SNOBAT, Version 1.9, was released in June, 1976.SNOBAT incorporates a number of extensions to the standard version of SNOBOL4, as set forth by Griswold, Poage, and Polonsky (1). These extensions are described here, and the motivations for their inclusion in SNOBAT are discussed. Some of them are original with the author and his associates, to the best of his knowledge, while some were first suggested by others, as noted. A detailed exposition of SNOBAT extensions to SNOBOL4 appears in the SNOBAT 1.9 Manual (2).
