Abstract

Crosstalk delay analysis and closure is becoming crucialfor first pass silicon success in current technologies. Theinherent pessimism in crosstalk delay analysis results inhuge number of violations to be flagged, which is bothdifficult to fix and to identify the real violations that couldactually cause silicon failures. In this paper, we presenta new approach of path based crosstalk delay analysis toreduce the inherent pessimism. The solution uses a twopass analysis approach - in the first pass all crosstalkdelay violating paths are identified and in the second passall these violations are reanalyzed more accurately toverify whether it is a real violation. The solutionfundamentally relies on the fact that a path basedcrosstalk delay analysis is more accurate and lesspessimistic, compared to net based analysis and violationidentification. We also present results from various130nm designs showing as much as 70% reduction inviolations.
