Abstract

An approach for image enhancement in case of smoothed images with a Known kernel is suggested, it is assumed t'hat the original image could be successfully restored if a correction proportional to the difference between it and the smoothed image is applied. Since the originai image is not known the correct values of the differences at the corresponding pixels are not known, as 'weft. To solve the problem, a second smooth is applied and the proportionality coefficients is evaluated such that the difference between the two images is optimal in terms of minimal squares. Comparisons with other approaches have shown that the new method yields almost the same or better quality of the restored images at a significantly low computational time.
