Abstract

Mobile nodes are interconnected by multihop routingpaths consist of unstable radio links in ad hoc wirelessnetwork. It is complex and difficult to provide QoSrouting in such network because of imprecise networkinformation, insufficient bandwidth and dynamictopology. For improving network stability andthroughput, multipath routing protocols are proposed. Asender node will discover multiple disjoined routingpaths and spread traffic into multiple streams accordingto their delay or bandwidth. For real-time streaming, unstable throughput or insufficient bandwidth willinvite unexpected delay or jitter if it is a multimediastreaming. Some multipath routing protocols pre-evaluate available bandwidth of paths and select enoughtotal bandwidth from them if real-time applicationsdemand for QoS constraint. For minimizing the cost ofthese paths, a path with smaller hopcounts will be priorselected. These disjoined paths are general too closedwith each other and the total throughput cannot just besum up because of "paths interfering". Discovering andselecting multiple high-interfering paths is ineffectualand the total available bandwidth is not precise. In thispaper, we proposed an interfering-aware QoS multipathrouting protocol for QoS-constraint multimedia andreal-time applications in ad hoc wireless network. Weapply a scheme to evaluate available bandwidthaccording to the network capacities with different MediaAccess Control (MAC) protocols. A concept of"Interfering ratio" of multipath will be discussed andwe evaluate the stability and throughput improvementby simulations.
