Abstract

Digital image inpainting is a technique that can repair aportion of damaged or removed image by means ofautomatic mechanisms. Image inpainting tools can beapplied to repairing damaged historical documents. Inthis paper, we propose an adaptive mechanism, which isbased on a color interpolation mechanism. The repairingprocedure checks the surrounding information of adamaged pixel and decides the range of references thatcan be used to compute an interpolated color. We havetested on more than 2000 images include painting, photo, and cartoon drawing. The evaluation shows that ourmechanism produces a very good result.
