Abstract

In peer-to-peer (P2P) networks, which provide capabilitiesto search for and share contents via direct communicationbetween peers, there are two typical problems. One is that aP2P network generates a lot of traffic because of the network-disastrousflooding, and the second is that quality of servicedepends on the peers' capabilities. As a solution to theseproblems, applying IP multicasting to P2P networks is proposed. In this paper, we describe the basic architecture of a peer-to-peernetwork with an IP multicasting function.
