In a server-proxy-client 3-tier architecture of the wirelessmobile network, proxies should be dynamically assigned toserve mobile hosts according to geographical dependencyand the network situation. The goal of proxy handoffis to allow a mobile host still can receive packets fromthe corresponding server even though its served proxy isswitched from the current one to the other one. In thispaper, a 3-tier Multimedia Mobile Transmission Platform,called MMTP, is proposed to solve the proxy handoffproblem in the IPv6-based wireless mobile network. InMMTP, a proxy handoff scheme, which is based on theapplication layer anycast technique, is proposed to selectfrom a number of candidate proxies according to the loadbalance concern and wireless network situation concern.
