We derive a model for estimating adaptive softwaremaintenance effort in person hours, the AdaptiveMaintenance Effort Model (AMEffMo). A number ofmetrics such as lines of code changed and number ofoperators changed were found to be strongly correlatedto maintenance effort. The regression models performedwell in predicting adaptive maintenance effort as well asprovide useful information for managers and maintainers.
