Abstract

Software maintenance function suffers from ascarcity of management models that wouldfacilitate its evaluation, management andcontinuous improvement. This paper is part of aseries of papers that presents a SoftwareMaintenance Capability Maturity Model (SMCMM).The contributions of this specific paper are: 1) todescribe the key references of softwaremaintenance; 2) to present the model updateprocess conducted during 2003; and 3) to present,for the first time, the updated architecture of themodel.
