A subsampling based watermarking scheme hasbeen investigated for digital images in this study. Thealgorithm utilizes the wavelet multi-resolutionalstructure and subsamples the individual subbandcoefficients in order to embed the watermarkinformation respectively. The extracting procedurereverses the embedding operations without thereference of the original image and provides a bettercopyright protection scheme. Compared with thesimilar approach by discrete cosine transform basedapproach, the wavelet based algorithm apparentlypreserves superior image quality and robustness undervarious attacks.
