Abstract

VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) is usedto model the 3D object of the web page, and become asa standard for 3D information of World Wide Web. Inthis paper, we propose a content-based VRML 3Dobject retrieval system. The system can display 3Dobjects queries to web browsers interactively. User maygive a VRML object, and find VRML scenes that use thesimilar object via user interface. In this system, wepropose the automatic indexing scheme of VRMLdatabase according to our Oct-tree representationmethod, which could filter the VRML object efficiently.Our experience shows that the system is able to retrieve3D objects from VRML scenes satisfyingly by theproposed approaches.
