In a bandwidth-restricted environment, optimumvideo delivery is a demanding but a technicallychallenging issue. Exploiting the trade-off between theimage-quality and the frame-rate in adapting tovarying channel bandwidth is an attractive solution. This paper describes an application level adaptivemethodology for M-JPEG transmission consideringavailable channel bandwidth and end-hostperformance. The authors have practicallyimplemented this control methodology in a multimediacollaboration system for medical applications.
