Abstract

Change can be observed in our environment and inthe technology we build. While changes in theenvironment happen continuously and implicitly, ourtechnology has to be kept in sync with the changingworld around it. Although for some of the changes wecan prepare, for most of them we cannot. This isespecially true for next generation mobilecommunication systems that are expected to support thecreation of a ubiquitous society where virtuallyeverything is connected and made available within anorganic information network. Resources will frequentlyjoin or leave the network, new types of media or newcombinations of existing ones will be used to interactand cooperate, and services will be tailored topreferences and needs of individual customers to bettermeet their needs. This paper outlines our research in thearea of dynamic service adaptation to provide conceptsand technologies allowing for such environments.
