We develop a financial knowledge management system,known as FAM, which is able to digest online news andconduct financial activity mining. Financial online news articlesare automatically fetched from the Web. By analyzingthe text content, metadata capturing major attributessuch as company names and people names are automaticallyextracted. The metadata together with content termsare processed to mine financial activities via an unsupervisedlearning algorithm. FAM is capable of dealing withmultilingual news including English and Chinese.
