Abstract

Advances in wireless network technology and theincreasing use of number of handheld mobile devicesmake many services and applications necessary to beoffered to mobile users. An event notification service(ENS) system is an extremely useful communicationservice for those applications. Therefore, it becomesnecessary to extend ENS system to a mobile environment.A distributed ENS system is an asynchronous systemconsisting of several subsystems, namely, producerclients, consumer clients and servers without commonmemory and global clock. The subsystems communicateeach other by sending messages with unpredictabletransmission delays causing unordered propagation ofmessages. In this paper we describe a model of ENSsystem for mobile environment. Then we present a causalordering algorithm of ENS systems for mobileenvironment.
