This paper presents a micro-payment-based architecturefor P2P content distribution networks using the LightweightCurrency Protocol. Under this architecture, autonomouspeers form a dynamic overlay network that evolves as peersbuy and sell documents with the Lightweight Currency Protocol(LCP). By adopting a payment-based system, memberpeers are forced to contribute resources in order to obtainbenefits, thus eliminating the free-rider problem. Wepresent a document search mechanism that is based on bidding, with the use of micro-payments.
