Abstract

Following the road in-between purely linguisticannotation and solely ontology-based annotations for theSemantic Web, a hybrid (ontological and linguistic) modeland platform, called OntoTag, has been created, aiming atbetter machine communication, interoperability andlanguage understanding; these capabilities are derivedfrom the incorporation into the platform of a set oflinguistic ontologies, the main topic of this paper, suitablefor the multi-leveled and standardized annotation ofSemantic Web documents.
