Abstract

Grid computing is a major research area withincreasing impact on the business world. Substantialwork has been spend on improving the gridmiddleware but the gap between the high expectationsand available real-life grid applications is stillremarkable. There is a significant emerging risk ofcreating a new hype which may result in disillusionand disappointment. Therefore, this paper emphasisesthe urgence of providing reliable grid-based solutions-- regardless of their scientific or commercial domain -in order to get grid computing to a mature state withwide-spread acceptance. An application prototype forediting and modelling grid workflows for semi-professionals- as part of an approach for solving thisproblem - and a grid job example are described.
