Abstract

There is growing interest in the use of context-awarenessas a technique for developing pervasive computing applicationsthat are flexible, adaptable, and capable of acting autonomouslyon behalf of users. However, context-awarenessintroduces various software engineering challenges, as wellas privacy and usability concerns. In this paper, we presenta conceptual framework and software infrastructure that togetheraddress known software engineering challenges, andenable further practical exploration of social and usabilityissues by facilitating the prototyping and fine-tuning ofcontext-aware applications.
