Accomplishing the distributed snapshots problemin mobile systems is an important issue as wellas in distributed systems. This paper presents adistributed snapshots protocol for mobile computingsystems. In addition, this protocol can be usedfor achieving an efficient checkpointing protocol inthe mobile environment. Specifically, it is a robustadaptation of the classical distributed snapshotsprotocol, where the mobile hosts can stillroam among the different cells within the mobilesystem. The main benefit of this work is to providedistributed snapshots for a mobile system withoutadding any restriction to the system, such asFIFO ordering among the application messages asrequired for a traditional distributed system.
