Abstract

We investigate the transmission of H.264/AVC-coded video over wireless conversational channels. An adaptive rate control method is presented to provide constant bit rate encoding. Then two error control mechanisms are discussed. An proper packetization method in the link layer can keep a good balance between error resilience and transmission efficiency. Low delay retransmission can significantly improve loss packet recovery at cost of a slightly increased transmission bit rate and a very limited time delay.
