Abstract

This work presents the SMS (SuperscalarMultiprocessor Simulator) tool - version 1.0 - based inthe SimpleScalar's core. That tool allows parallelapplication development, performance analysis and willprovide the configuration of several parallel anddistributed architectural models. The tool's user will beable to simulate distributed or shared memory use, aswell as to define the inter-processor communicationtopology and protocol. In the current version, the toolalready provides Send and Receive communicationprimitives for message exchange and topology in sharedbus. When compared to the other similar tools, the SMShas all the SimpleScalar advantages. Thus, the SMSbecomes a low cost alternative for research andeducation in development and performance analysis ofparallel aplications.
