In this paper, we present a novel energy efficientrouting protocol for mobile ad hoc networks. Thisprotocol is particularly designed for dense networks.Node location information is used to simplify routingstrategy. Only a small number of nodes are involved inone routing. This reduces the routing overhead and savesenergy for other nodes. We conduct extensive simulationsto study the performance of the routing protocol, andcompare the performance with LAR routing protocol. Thesimulation results demonstrate that the routing protocolhas very good performance and good scalability. Both thecomputation and simulation show that the routingprotocol incurs only about 25% of the routing overheadof LAR routing protocol.
