Abstract

The rapid expansion of personal digitalmultimedia content in recent years requires a systematicindexing, categorizing and browsing interface to managethese enormous data. To tackle this crucial problem, theMPEG-7 standard was initiated with the intention toallow for efficient searching, indexing, filtering andaccessing of multimedia content. We propose a MPEG-7based multimedia content description tool whichannotates multimedia data with twelve main attributesregarding its semantic representation. The twelveattributes include answers of who, what, when, where, why and how (5W1H) the digital content was producedas well as the respective direction, distance and duration(3D) information. We define digital multimedia contentsincluding image, video and music embedded with theproposed semantic attributes as Dozen DimensionalDigital Content (DDDC). The establishment of DDDCwould provide an interoperatable methodology formultimedia content management applications at semanticlevel. We also envision novel algorithms associate withDDDC attributes for semantic based content retrieval inthe future.
