The specifications for logical pick devices in the Status Report of the Graphics Standards Planning Committee are reviewed followed by a short, general discussion of Pick simulation. Then, the simulation of Picks by point selection and segment display file processing is discussed in detail with emphasis on the improvement of performence using extents. Finally, the picking algorithms of two major Core implementations are outlined.
