Abstract

Based on IBM's Geo-Data Analysis and Display System (GADS) a simulation model for interactive dispatching in a geographic area has been developed. This model permits either multiple assignments of many service units to one call for service or tour building for one service unit to many calls for service. The motion of service units can be monitored on the sreen and the assignments and tours, respectively, may be modified dynamically. The simulation model is primarily intended to be a step towards a real computer assisted dispatching system. This system is to be feed with the coordinates and data of the calls for service and with the moving coordinates of the service units from outside (e.g. by automatic telephone line identification and by radio). Furthermore this system has to inform the service units automatically (e.g. by radio) of the dispatching decisions relating to them.
