Abstract

This paper discusses executive software requirements peculiar to real time embedded systems, such as spacecraft, missile and avionics, and the role of Ada in meeting those requirements. In these applications, the cyclical executive has traditionally played a large role because of its ability to work efficiently with resource and frequency constraints. The Ada pragma provides a way to implement this type of executive in a way that can be efficient and easy to use. Progmas of this type could become a standard for the avionics community.
