Abstract

This paper presents version 1.0 of an XML-based modelling language aimed at operations research problems. Appropriately, the name of this language is Operations Research Markup Language (ORML). ORML syntax got the inspiration from MathML, adding new elements and attributes. For converting problem models from ORML to existing mathematical modelling languages (GAMS, AMPL, etc), different XSLT-based interfaces have been developed. ORML tries to bring to this field the standardization and interoperability benefits of XML.
