Simulations and experiments in the fusion and plasmaphysics community generate large datasets at remote sites.Visualization and analysis of these datasets are difficultbecause of the incompatibility among the various data formatsadopted by simulation, experiments, and analysis tools, andthe large sizes of analyzed data. Grids and Web Servicestechnologies are capable of providing solutions for suchheterogeneous settings, but need to be customized to the field-specificneeds and merged with distributed technologiescurrently used by the community. This paper describes howwe are addressing these issues in the Fusion Grid Serviceunder development. We also present performance results ofrelevant data transfer mechanisms.
