In this paper, we address the problem of adaptively reservingthe CPU to concurrent soft real-time tasks, in orderto meet target Quality of Service requirements. First, wepresent two new techniques inspired to the idea of stochasticcontrol. Then, we present a flexible and modular softwarearchitecture suitable for adaptive scheduling, realisedas a minimally invasive set of modifications to the LinuxKernel. Finally, we show experimental results that validateour approach and prove its effectiveness in the context ofmultimedia applications.
