Abstract

One of the key research issues with moving objectsdatabases (MOD) is the modeling of moving objects. Inthis paper, a new moving objects database model, MovingObjects on Dynamic Transportation Networks (MODTN),is proposed. In MODTN, moving objects are modeled asmoving graph points which move only within predefinedtransportation networks. To express general events of thesystem, such as traffic jams, temporary constructions, insertion and deletion of junctions or routes, theunderlying transportation networks are modeled asdynamic graphs so that the state and the topology of thegraph system at any time instant can be tracked andqueried. Besides, to track the location of networkconstrained moving objects, a location update mechanismis provided, and the corresponding uncertaintymanagement issues are analyzed.
