Abstract

Although TV programs are an easy way to conveymessages, thoughts or images to other people, program production is still difficult for individuals. We have been studying TV program Making Language(TVML) to enable individuals to create their own TVprograms. TVML is a language to describe TVprograms and the TVML Player interprets the TVMLscript and creates the TV program in real time. Tosimplify program production for the user, we are nowstudying a technique for producing TV programsautomatically. Using this technique, a user can makea TV program merely by inputting key informationinto an automatic production module, which is namedAPE (Automatic Production Engine). APE is a verysimple unit that processes given text data and alsooutputs text data. APE converts XML input text intoTVML to create a TV program. The user can createvarious types of TV programs on a PC by simplydownloading favorite APEs and providing some inputto the APE.
