Abstract

In a traditional streaming system, the field of view(FOV) of an image is limited based on the FOV of thecamera. One solution is the use of a pan/tilt camera, yet this is difficult for multiple clients to handle, plusthere is a delay between the client and the server dueto camera motion. Therefore, to solve these problems,a new streaming system is proposed that usespanorama image. However, the server does notcompress the whole panorama image, which wouldinvolve sending huge amounts of data through theInternet. Instead, only parts of the panorama imageare compressed and transmitted based on thenavigation requests of the client, thereby reducing thecompression burden on the server.
