We introduce a novel notion of flow of information,"Slow Information," which is defined as the flow causingstructural changes to a spatio-temporal structure, theTapestry of Space and Time, of persons or a society. Thisdefinition is based on the Leibnizian conception of Spaceand Time, which contrasts with the common conception:the Newtonian conception of Space and Time. In the latterconception, information flow does not affect the spatio-temporalstructure of persons, while in the former conceptionthe structure may be changed profoundly and slowlyvia the flow of information, Slow Information. Consequentlythis new aspect of information is applied to emvironmentaldesign problems via Alexanderýs Pattern Language. In addition,we discuss its application to caring communicationbased on Nursing Theory and Naïve Psychology.
