For Web Services to fulfill their promise in trulyheterogeneous environments, the different baseoperations being included in Web Services will need toappear in multiple Web Services with different namesas well as different authorization and authenticationmechanisms, different Service Level Agreements, andeven different formats. We describe Service Views andrule groups which together provide an adaptation layerat which these changes can be described and enforced.Service Views include the ability to offer differentviews on WS components by altering the WSDL[Web Services Description Language]contract. Rule groups provide information directingthese changes, as well as other policies to beautomatically enforced underneath the services.
