Abstract

This paper addresses the need for armor-plating HarelStatechart design specifications of real-time systems withsafety requirements (which are commonly written in temporallogic) using a new visual specification language namedTLCharts. TLCharts combine the visual and intuitive appealof non-deterministic Harel Statecharts with formalspecifications written in Linear-time (Metric) TemporalLogic. We demonstrate such armor-plating with a specificationof the safety-critical computer assisted resuscitationalgorithm (CARA) software for a casualty intravenous fluidinfusion pump.
