Abstract

This paper describes the evaluation and introduction of the Vienna Development Method (VDM) into an IDEC development project. We firstly describe why VDM was chosen and follow this with a simple VDM specification based on an Electronic Mail System. The evaluation exercise is briefly described together with the training program which was subsequently set up. Lastly we look at a language which was developed for use by the project which emcompasses both the specification style of VDM together with pseudocode and structuring mechanisms.
