Our framework, Computing Approximate Eigensystems(CApE), efficiently approximates symmetric linear eigenvalue problems occurring in the self-consistent field method used during electronic structure computations. CApE has several algorithmic tools that both detect matrix structure in application problems and compute solutions to prescribed accuracy.
