Buffer minimization is an important design issue in optical circuit switching networks because of the high cost of optical buffers. In this paper, we show how to design routing strategies that can reduce buffer requirement in such networks. We propose two classes of buffer-efficient routing schemes and compare their performance in terms of complexity, buffer requirement and blocking probability.
