Abstract

This paper serves as an introduction and initial exploration into the design space of active tapes. We provide a general cost comparison between wired (active tape) model and wireless (standard) model. The cost study is then extended to three real applications. We show that real applications vary enough in density, power and lifetime that both models are appropriate.
