This work examines the effects of the separation between the carrier frequencies of the uplink and downlink channels duc to frequency division duplex on the performance of open-loop downlink beamforming antenna array techniques that make use of eigenvectors as beamformers. The main effects are the de-correlation of the uplink and downlink eigenvectors and the performance loss, both of which are quantified. Also, a simple compensation technique is examined, and is shown to eliminate most of the performance loss.
