Abstract

In this paper we analyze how the coefficient of variation of the service time distribution affects the mean sojourn time of M/G/1-FB queues. The results show that the coefficient of variation is a necessary but not sufficient measure to characterize heavy-tailed distributions in term of the performance under the FB policy.
