Abstract

Considerable difficulty is involved in standardizing the databases, metadata formats, and knowledge bases that contain the wealth of information available to the biomedical community. One possible solution is to create virtual ontology repositories, which would let users rate and compare the ontologies as well as making the ontologies searchable and easier to browse. Developers could use tools such as Protégé to create, manage, and maintain those repositories.
